JXJ: DIMENTION-1
Project Description:
JXJ: DIMEMTION-1 represents the preproduction phase of PROJECT: JXJ. During this stage, the project team will:
Compile and develop comprehensive references, specialized software, templates, and detailed guides.
Conduct experimental drawing sessions to refine techniques and methodologies.
Utilize educational YouTube videos to gain proficiency in the effective use of these tools.
JXJ: DIMEMTION-1 will establish a robust foundation for the subsequent phases of the project.
File Organization
Organization is something I have struggled with throughout my time in education. I have been experimenting with various ways to save and categorize my art. I have lost many artworks, and have delayed projects because I failed to do this properly in the past. So I have created a definitive notation for all my artworks. This is key to the success, speed, and fluidity of the project. The animation industry is a fast-paced environment and speed while maintaining quality is a high-valued skill.
File Notation
Main Folder: “Month.Year Project Name”
Example: “6.24 Project JXJ”
Sub-Folder: “Project Abbreviation” Variant(V).format.Size.Order
Example: “JXJ V.PNG.13x19.1”
Tools and Assets
Templates
In animation redrawing is the main component. To streamline this I have researched and made templates that can be reused to reduce time. Essentially I will be animating premade assets.
Guides
Another key component is composition. Composition is important for the viewer because the brain needs to break down the elements on the screen. Guides will also help minimize how much I need to animate, saving time.

Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are tools. It’s evolving faster than we can learn about it and that seems to scare people. I have been experimenting with this technology to further understand it because I believed my job as an artist was at risk.
However key realizations I have made during my experiments are:
A.I. replicates and generates, it cannot create.
It will mix and match already established ideas and concepts in a way we may not have seen before. This is why AI is not a threat to artists. The fundamentals of art and the role of the artist are to push thinking, and foster growth, and community with new ideas and concepts. AI can help with those endeavors and push creativity to a new level, however AI in itself is not creative, thus why most things AI generates lack “soul”.
A.I. is childlike in its learning.
The A.I. created can be taught prejudices like racism through machine learning. It does not have context outside of the data it is given. For example: If a predominantly white research team provides “relevant data” from their point of view, whatever the A.I. generates will reflect that. Now apply that to every concept known to man. AI is currently in its development phase, which is something I plan to take advantage of as an artist to further my creativity.
